6.6 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Chile

A 6.6 magnitude earthquake has struck Chile. Its epicenter located in the Coquimbo region, approximately 200 kilometers north of Santiago.

The quake was felt as far away as Argentina and Peru, with reports of buildings shaking and items falling off shelves. There have been no reports of casualties so far, but the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.

Aftershocks

The quake was followed by several aftershocks, the strongest of which was a 5.1 magnitude tremor. The Chilean government has issued a red alert, warning of the possibility of further aftershocks.
