Active Shooter Situation at Dundee Crown High School

Currently, there is a heavy police presence at Dundee Crown High School in Carpentersville, Illinois due to unconfirmed reports of an active shooter with shots fired near or inside the school. Multiple authorities, including SWAT, are on the scene.

However, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and Superintendent Susan Harkin have issued reassuring statements that there is no incident occurring inside or outside the building and that all students and staff are safe and under district and building supervision. The lockdown was instituted as a precautionary measure.

Police, fire departments, and medical teams are on-site to ensure the safety and security of not just the students, but teachers, residents, and first responders. For parents and guardians, Superintendent Harkin has also outlined in an email that the lockdown affects school drop-off.

No one is currently allowed to enter or exit the building. Students who are walkers, bike riders, or being dropped off are advised to wait for further instructions. Those taking bus transportation must stay on their buses until the lockdown is lifted.
