Shots Fired Near Norwich Schools

Police were called to the area of 3 Sullivan Drive after receiving a shots fired call on Thursday. The schools located in the vicinity, Stanton Elementary and Teachers Memorial Global Studies Magnet Middle School, were placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure, although no injuries were reported.

Extra officers were deployed to the schools, and the lockdown was lifted after half an hour. Students were in a hold until 1:06 p.m. before they resumed classroom activity. Superintendent Kristen Stringfellow confirmed that students at both schools were safe and that dismissal would happen at the regular time.

What Happened and How the Situation Was Handled

Norwich Police Lt. John Perry stated that the incident was still under investigation. However, the safety of the students was their top priority, and they took all necessary precautions to ensure their safety. The situation was handled promptly and professionally, and the students were kept out of harm’s way.
