Six Children Injured in Mass Stabbing in French Alps
Blog Post: Six children have been injured in a mass stabbing in a park near Lake Annecy, in France’s south-east. The interior minister, Gérald Darmanin, confirmed that the perpetrator had been arrested by police.
Regional deputy Antoine Armand described the attack as “abominable” and said authorities were investigating. The French prime minister, Élisabeth Borne, is on her way to the scene.
AFP news agency reported that six children were injured in the stabbing and local media said two were in a critical condition. France’s National Assembly has observed a minute of silence and roads are blocked around the scene of the attack.
Perpetrator Arrested by Police
A police source has stated that the attacker claims to be a Syrian asylum seeker. The situation is being closely monitored and more information is expected to be released in the coming days.
