Tragic Shooting at Oliver Citywide Academy in Pittsburgh

A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday morning outside Oliver Citywide Academy in Pittsburgh. A student opened fire in front of the school, killing another student. The suspected shooter was taken into custody after a police officer saw him running away with a gun.

The victim and the suspect were both male juveniles who attended the school. Police Commander Richard Ford stated that there were no potential threats to other schools.

Student Fatally Shot Outside School

The shooting happened just before 7:30 a.m. by the steps leading into the school. Some teachers were inside and heard the shots. Police are investigating what led to the shooting and have recovered a weapon believed to be a 9 mm.

Oliver Citywide Academy is a full-time special education center for students in grades 3-12. This is not the first time a shooting has occurred outside the school. Last year, a 15-year-old boy was shot and killed.
