Sun Valley School Students Treated for Illness after Consuming Marijuana Gummies
Marijuana Gummies Leave 8 Sun Valley Students Hospitalized
A group of eight students at Sun Valley Magnet School in Los Angeles were treated for a sudden illness after consuming marijuana gummies on Wednesday. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the students became sick and required medical attention, with five of them being taken to local hospitals and three being released to their parents.
Authorities responded to the incident and conducted an investigation into the source of the marijuana gummies. While all of the affected students were found on campus, the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is still working to determine how each may be affiliated with the school.
Los Angeles Fire Department and School Officials Respond to Medical Incident
In a statement, Lt. Nina Buranasombati with the Los Angeles School Police Department confirmed that the incident had taken place and that emergency medical responders were closely monitoring the students for further evaluation. The school followed all Los Angeles Unified protocols and parents were notified.
