Teenager Shot While Walking Near Middle School in Southwest Houston

A teenager was shot while walking along South Gessner at West Bellfort in southwest Houston on Wednesday morning. The incident took place around 7:45 a.m. Houston police have launched an investigation into the incident. The teenager is not a student at Houston ISD’s Welch Middle School, which is located just a block away from the shooting scene.

Fortunately, officers were nearby and were able to provide first aid to the teenager quickly. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. Police said that a vehicle in the area was also hit by bullets but no one inside the vehicle was injured.

Investigators believe that the shooter was in a vehicle and drove away after the shooting. In the wake of the incident, Welch Middle School was placed on lockdown while police investigated the scene.
