Spate of Violence in Downtown Calgary: Attempted Robbery Leads to Stabbings and Assault
In a recent incident in downtown Calgary, four people were attacked in an attempted robbery. The suspect, who was trying to steal their purse, stabbed at least three people and assaulted another. The incident occurred at the intersection of Seventh Avenue and Fourth Street S.E. around 12:45 p.m. on Monday. The victims were injured between minor and serious, but fortunately, all are in stable condition and receiving treatment.
Police Response
The Calgary police department acted quickly to arrest the suspect. Following a confrontation with officers, a man was apprehended at the intersection of Eighth Avenue S.E. and Fourth Street at around 1:10 p.m. Police say that the suspect posed a threat to public safety, and anyone who may have come in contact with the suspect between 12:45 p.m. and 1:10 p.m. is urged to contact them immediately at 403-266-1234.
